- 12 oz smoked sausage sliced into rounds
- 1 cup long-grain white rice uncooked
- 2 ½ cups chicken broth or beef broth
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ tsp garlic powder optional
- ¼ tsp black pepper optional
- chopped parsley for garnish optional
Heat a large skillet or deep pan over medium heat and brown the sliced smoked sausage for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add uncooked rice to the skillet and stir to coat it in the sausage drippings, cooking for 1 to 2 minutes.
Pour in the broth and bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low and cover to simmer for 18 minutes until the rice is tender.
Stir in heavy cream, season with optional garlic powder and black pepper, cook uncovered for 2 more minutes until creamy and heated through.
Remove from heat, let sit for a couple of minutes, then garnish with parsley if desired and serve warm.
