Equipment

  • 1 oven
  • 1 baking sheet lined
  • 1 skillet for cooking beef patties

Ingredients

  • 24 frozen tater tots
  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20 for best flavor
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese cut into small squares
  • 6 to 8 strips bacon cooked and cut into halves or thirds
  • Optional: mini pickle slices ketchup, mustard, or burger sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and arrange the frozen tater tots on a lined baking sheet.
  • Bake the tater tots according to package instructions, about 20 to 25 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Meanwhile, season ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, then divide into 24 small portions.
  • Gently flatten each portion into small discs slightly smaller than the tater tots.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the mini beef patties for 2 to 3 minutes per side until fully cooked and seared.
  • Place one cooked mini patty on each crispy tater tot and top with a square of cheddar cheese.
  • Return the assembled bites to the oven for 2 to 3 minutes until the cheese melts.
  • Top each bite with a piece of crispy bacon and optionally add a mini pickle slice or a drizzle of sauce.

Notes

  • Slightly press tater tots after baking for a flatter base.
  • Use thick-cut bacon for better flavor and crunch.
  • Serve warm to enjoy optimal texture and melted cheese.
