Equipment

  • 1 oven
  • 1 pizza stone optional
  • 1 baking sheet or pizza peel
  • 1 Rolling Pin optional, for dough
  • 1 brush for olive oil

Ingredients

  • 1 ball pizza dough homemade or store-bought
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ pound hot Italian sausage cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons honey or hot honey for extra spice
  • Red pepper flakes to taste
  • Fresh basil or arugula optional, for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
  • Roll or stretch the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle on a lightly floured surface.
  • Transfer the dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza peel.
  • Brush olive oil evenly over the dough surface and sprinkle the minced garlic on top.
  • Distribute the cooked sausage evenly over the dough.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly across the pizza.
  • Add crumbled feta cheese on top of the mozzarella.
  • Bake the pizza for 12 to 15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
  • Remove the pizza from the oven and drizzle honey evenly over it.
  • Sprinkle red pepper flakes to your desired spice level.
  • Top with fresh basil or arugula if desired, then slice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Bake on the lowest oven rack for extra crispy crust.
  • Use hot honey and extra red pepper flakes for more heat.
  • Adding thinly sliced red onions balances sweetness and spice.
  • A drizzle of balsamic glaze complements feta cheese beautifully.
  • Store leftovers wrapped tightly in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
