Equipment

  • 1 oven preheated to 400°F
  • 1 baking sheet lined with parchment paper
  • 1 fork for sealing pastry edges
  • 1 pastry brush for egg wash
  • 1 Rolling Pin for rolling puff pastry

Ingredients
  

  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 6 –8 slices ham
  • 1 cup cheese cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss, sliced or shredded
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard optional
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped (for garnish)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the puff pastry sheet slightly on a floured surface and cut into 6 to 8 equal squares.
  • Place a slice of ham in the center of each pastry square, add cheese on top, and optionally spread Dijon mustard.
  • Season with black pepper, then fold each square into a triangle or rectangle to form a pocket and seal edges with a fork.
  • Mix beaten egg with milk and brush the tops of the pastries for a golden finish.
  • Bake on the prepared baking sheet for 18–20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  • Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve warm to enjoy the gooey melted cheese.

Notes

  • Add caramelized onions or spinach for extra flavor.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds or bagel seasoning before baking.
  • Serve with honey mustard, garlic aioli, or marinara sauce.
