- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 1-2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce or ketchup
- 2-3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1-2 tbsp brown sugar optional
- 1 tsp mustard Dijon or yellow
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 4-6 hamburger buns
- Optional toppings: sliced cheese pickles, extra mustard or ketchup
Cook ground beef and chopped onion in a large skillet over medium heat until meat is browned and onion is soft, breaking up meat as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
Add minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Stir in tomato sauce or ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar if using, and mustard. Mix well and bring to a simmer.
Reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens and coats the beef.
Spoon the meat mixture onto hamburger buns. Add optional toppings such as cheese or pickles as desired.
- Add hot sauce or chili powder for extra heat.
- Include diced bell peppers or carrots for texture and nutrition.
- Serve with fries, chips, or salad.
- Keep filling warm in a slow cooker for gatherings.
