Equipment

  • 1 heatproof bowl
  • 1 double boiler or microwave for melting chocolate
  • 1 parchment-lined tray

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large oranges
  • 7 oz dark or milk chocolate chopped
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or butter optional
  • Optional toppings: sea salt flakes chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or orange zest

Instructions
 

  • Wash and dry the oranges well.
  • Slice the oranges into 1/4 inch thick rounds and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Place chopped chocolate and coconut oil in a heatproof bowl.
  • Melt the chocolate over a double boiler or microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  • Dip each orange slice halfway or fully into the melted chocolate and let excess drip off.
  • Place dipped slices on a parchment-lined tray and sprinkle toppings while chocolate is wet.
  • Refrigerate for 20 to 30 minutes until the chocolate is firm.
  • Serve chilled or at room temperature as a snack or dessert.

Notes

  • Use dry orange slices to help chocolate adhere better.
  • Add a drop of orange extract for extra flavor.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days.
  • Dark chocolate pairs especially well with orange.
