Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 medium bowl
  • 1 knife

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken shredded
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese shredded or sliced
  • 1 can 8 oz refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped (optional)
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, mix shredded chicken, diced ham, Swiss cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, black pepper, and optional parsley until evenly combined.
  • Unroll the crescent roll dough onto the prepared baking sheet and press seams together to form one rectangle.
  • Using a knife, cut 1-inch strips along both sides of the dough, leaving the center intact for the filling.
  • Spread the chicken and ham mixture evenly down the center strip of the dough.
  • Fold the side strips over the filling alternately from left to right to form a braided pattern; press ends to seal.
  • Brush the top of the braid with the beaten egg for a golden, shiny crust.
  • Bake for 22 to 25 minutes until the braid is golden brown and flaky.
  • Allow the braid to cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken for quick prep.
  • Add spinach or mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds or bagel seasoning before baking.
