- 1 lb fresh green beans trimmed
- 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
- 3 to 4 garlic cloves minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder optional
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
- 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar, mozzarella, or blend
- Optional garnish: grated Parmesan lemon zest, or chopped parsley
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the green beans for 4 to 5 minutes until crisp-tender. Drain and set aside.
Heat butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 to 60 seconds until fragrant without browning.
Pour in heavy cream and stir gently to combine.
Add shredded cheese and stir until melted and the sauce is smooth.
Season the sauce with salt, black pepper, and onion powder if using.
