Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet for toasting bread
  • 1 small bowl to mix garlic butter

Ingredients

  • 1 small French baguette or Italian bread loaf
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  • Mix softened butter, minced garlic, salt, and optional black pepper in a small bowl until well combined.
  • Slice the bread in half lengthwise and place both halves cut-side up on a baking sheet.
  • Spread the garlic butter evenly over the bread, covering the edges for full flavor.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the bread, then add the cheddar cheese on top.
  • Lightly sprinkle chopped parsley over the cheese.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the bread for 8–10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Optionally broil for 1–2 minutes to achieve golden-brown spots, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting.
  • Balance butter quantity to keep bread crisp, not greasy.
  • Broil briefly for attractive golden char marks.
