1 oven preheated to 475°F
1 skillet for cooking ground beef
1 pizza pan or baking stone
1 mixing bowl for sauce
- 1 recipe pizza dough store-bought or homemade
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 5 to 6 cups shredded mozzarella cheese about 22 to 24 oz
- 2/3 cup sliced dill pickles
- 1/3 cup chopped onion
- 2/3 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup yellow mustard
- 1 1/2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat the oven to 475°F and place a pizza stone inside if using. Prep a pizza pan by lightly greasing or lining with parchment paper.
Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef until fully browned, breaking it apart. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess grease and set aside.
In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise until smooth. Adjust mustard to taste for tanginess.
Roll out the pizza dough into a 12- to 14-inch circle. Spread the cheeseburger sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then evenly distribute the cooked ground beef. Add chopped onions and sliced pickles, then top with remaining mozzarella cheese.
Bake the pizza for 12 to 15 minutes, until the crust is golden and cheese is melted and bubbly. For extra browning, broil for 1 to 2 minutes watching carefully.
Remove the pizza and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Optionally add extra pickles or drizzle more sauce before serving.
- Try adding crispy bacon crumbles for extra flavor.
- Brush melted butter with sesame seeds on crust for a burger bun feel.
- Add shredded lettuce after baking for freshness.
- Mix cheddar with mozzarella for a sharper cheese blend.
- Store leftovers wrapped in foil in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
